I am thinking of using a gold chess rook on black.
Gold for generosity and fairness
Black for wisdom
Rook for strategic thinking and defense

(My second choice would be a bear, "Strength, cunning, ferocity in the protection of one's kindred" and also because I seem to be good at pushing people out of bounds.)

I would like to get the exact measurements of the lots and scoreboard standards this Saturday.

I don't see a problem with the rook. Per Wikipedia:

Quote:
Symbology

In heraldry, chess rooks are often used as charges. Unlike a real chess rook, they are conventionally shown with two outward-curving horns. This is because they would otherwise appear to be castle towers, since there is no proportion on a coat of arms. This charge is always blazoned "chess rook" so as not to be confused with the bird of that name; it is also not to be confused with the zule, a similar-looking object with two outward-curving horns at both top and bottom.

I think the rook sounds good. The meaning behind it is great too.

Bummer, I forgot to measure anything.
Does anyone happen to know the right sizes?

Are you talking about how many pixels the digital image should be? Because the one for the web page should be 150 x 150. For some reason most of them are 150 x 157, but that number seems odd.

And it should be a .gif file.

If you are talking about rules for physical banners, well we have some rules about them...but we don't really use physical banners anymore. I don't know the measurements of the wooden lots we use for picking fighters.

Lots are usually 1" X 2". What I've done in the past is gotten a cheap wooden yardstick from Lowes and cut it into 2" sections.

The big wooden standard things we use on the pegboard are 6" wide, I think. Not sure on the length from top to point or the degree of the angle.

I made my standard with a Celtic design to symbolize my Irish ancestry and Latin symbols to pay homage to Britain's Roman beginnings on a blue and white field. So now that I've made it, how do I upload it?
