So how would something like this work in the Ordo?

It's a shield but it's also armor, and we score points regardless of wether or not we hit armor.

I suppose the clearest way to word this is, Would a shield gauntlet be considered a shield, or armor?

Open for discussion... and I have more pics and info if you guys are interested :)

To me it's no different from a shield and a gauntlet. wether they are next to each other when they're not worn isn't really relevant to the battle configuration. I'd score hits to the hands, but not to the shield. As for attacks, hmm. I think most "fist spike" type weapons are largely for intimidation. It seems like they would be as likely to jar the user's wrist as to hurt the enemy.

All that aside, that is an amazing piece of craftsmanship.

Is that the gas cap at the top?

If I were to attempt to make one of these, I'ld leave off all of the spikes and the built in sword (yes, there's a full length blade attached to this thing).

It's kind of a "swiss army shield" of sorts. It's a shield, a gauntlet, has a built in sword, the 3 very obvious spikes, and the "gas cap" is actually an opening for light to travel through. There is a lantern that hooks to the inside of the shield.

This piece was used by body guards in Italy. I have more pics at work which I can post in the morning, but the basic idea is that if you are accosted during the night you can pull a lever (it's barely visible above the hand portion of the gaunt in this pic) that pops open the light hole effectively blinding your opponent at which point you can stab him with one of your nifty spikes or the built in sword. Or the sword in your other hand :)

It looks as though it should be steam powered. That's pretty awesome

You need to make one for your robotic squire!

Some people go out and find squires. Some people make 'em. :P

That's a nice piece of work. A swiss army beat-down.
