Post Basic Firearms for interested parties
If there is enough interest I will offer to share what knowledge I have on this subject with Ordo members. I have a rough plan and date, but nothing is set in stone. Feel free to chime in.

I love the martial sciences in all forms and firearms are one of the many it is beneficial to at least be familiar with.

Sunday July 29,
8:00a Ordo Citadel
Basic semi auto handgun nomenclature and function.
Basic pump shot gun nomenclature and function.
Basic M4 carbine rifle nomenclature and function.
Shooting fundamentals.
Basic range terminology and etiquette.

For those interested this would move to the range.

11:00a stop at Academy off of the interstate in Covington to acquire any necessary ammunition for what you would like to shoot.
You will prolly need at least $20 for ammo, depending on how much you want to shoot.

12:00p Honey Island Swamp Shooting Range. $8 will cover range fee and a few targets.

I would be interested. Is there anything I need to know about legally transporting or registering weapons in Louisiana?

Good Questions.
To shoot at the Honey Island swamp range, you are supposed to have a fishing or hunting license. You can buy the cheapest license at Academy for about 5 bucks at customer service in a couple of minutes. This could be done when we stop for ammo.

Eye protection, sunglasses or safety glasses or good
Ear Protection
Hat with a brim, bass ball cap works
Bug spray and sunscreen are nice
hydration
I have a couple of extra sets of ears protection depending on how many people we have. The ones you use for pounding on metal should work.

Generally speaking, any weapon you legally own should be fine to transport in your vehicle. In this state your vehicle is an extension of your home. As long as it's not stolen and the serial numbers haven't been tampered with, it should be good. Contrary to popular belief guns aren't really "registered" in the way people typically assume.

cool, I'll go get a fishing licence in a few days. I'm gonna bring an old rifle with me that I got after my grand father died , but have never shot. Anybody coming from the BR area wanna car pool on the ride over? Thanks for offering your time to teach us Dallas , sounds like this is going to be a fun sunday.

Make sure the weapon is clean and in operational condition. Anyone is welcome to shoot my stuff as long as they pick up ammo. Any other interest out there, or is it just the three of us?

Sorry for the long response time. Yeah the rifle is in good condition just needs to be oiled and Im going to do that tonight or tomorrow. It is a US army surplus bolt action Remington 30-06 model 03 A3. As far as I know it’s the same gun that the US used in world war 1. It holds 5 rounds and I have some ammo for it. I plan to be there at 8am on Sunday and want to try shooting any gun you bring out. I will talk to my friend Michael , he came out to one of our training days a while back , he may want to come out for this.
Laygeaux you want to carpool? Send me text or give me a call to let me know. Look forward to seeing all you guys this weekend.
