Chapter 1:
On Assessments

INterpretation:

Make sure everyone knows where their ass-kicking boots are, who's ass their allowed to kick, and where to go after they get their ass kicked or if they need new boots.

I like the interpretations. It places the age-old verse within our context.

Generals in the field must already be acquainted with all the sciences of warfare before they can command their own soldiers and asses battle formations.

Chapter 3:
Planning the Attack

Interpretation:

Don't make someone a general unless they're well acquainted with kicking ass.

Sir Eric, at some point you should compile these quoates with your ass kicking interpretations as a list. I think it would be publishable. At the very least posted somewhere on the site as a trim list for others to enjoy.

To win in battle or make a successful siege without rewarding the meritous is unlucky and earns the name of stinginess. Therefore, it is said that an enlightened government considers this, and good military leadership rewards merit.

Chapter 12:
The Incendiary Attack

Interpretation:
Good leadership rewards their best ass-kickers, lest they get their asses kicked.

For the weekend:

Stir opponents up, making them respond to you; then you can observe their forms of behavior, and whether they are orderly or confused.

Chapter 6:
Emptyness and Fullness

Interpretation:

Talk shit and then observe your opponent so that you might learn how to better kick his ass.

For Monday:

A military body goes through myriad transformations, in which everything is blended. Nothing is not orthodox, nothing is not unorthodox.

Chapter 2:
On Waging Battle

Interpretation by Sir Dallas:

There are many different types of boots with which to kick ass, and they may be changed often for a variety of ass-kickings.

For today:

Great wisdom is not obvious, great merit is not advertised. When you see the subtle, it is easy to win -- what has it to do with bravery or cleverness?
