I've decide to make some riveted chainmail, which should be quite the project. After compairing different prices of wire at 2.15 a pound, or ready to weave riveted chain at $27 a pound. I've opted for the more time consuming but less costly option of wire. Going throught the entire process of making Riveted chainmail will be interesting. I of course made this choice after doing alot of reading on how to make riveted mail. Which is a simple process by it self, tho time consuming. And hopfully I'll remember to put up progress on it here once I begin. |

it hasn't been that long, and your right, i just recently got the wire i need for the project. Its basically the same as making butted maile, but it has about 5 extra steps. its going to be great i think. I was comparing buying ready made ring or making them my self, and the cheaper, tho be it more time intensive method is to make them my self. and I feel its well worth it to do. plus I have a pretty decent how to document I found I how to make riveted chain. There are one or two more things I need to get before I begin. namely a bag or two of sand for when I soften the rings, cause I will have to anneal them after shaping, so that I can flatten and then punch the rivet hole into them. and I will be at the February tournament. |

monotonous yea it is, but its more just simply the burn of the arm that's going to take the most toll, I will probably have an unbreakable grip but the time I'm done cutting the rings. I did video some of the making of the coils. and I am planing on videoing other steps as I go along. |
