First off, someone will be glad to help. Of course, before anyone starts investing time and energy on a newbee, they most likely want to see how much you will participate.

My advice to you, is to show up at every training date (definetly) and every tourney. If you have to choose between the 2, go to the training day. Knights want to see how you will handle yourself in training before letting you in the pit.

Your brother had some good armour. I would suggest you go check out his gear. Take pictures if need be. You should be able to build something like it.

Next is that Ordo has some 'loaner' armour available. It is not pretty, nor comfortable, but kinda useable. In fact, your brother was going to donate his old stuff to Ordo. It might even be in the armoury, but I'm not sure, as I've been away for awhile.

It requires alot of dedication. Make sure it is something that you want to do, and not what someone else wanted you to do.

I'm looking to buy a helm and I found one on the Ashcraft Baker site, the Celtic Helm. Can anyone tell me if this would be a good purchase?

Offhand, I'd say it would be fine. It looks like Keaton's.

You MIGHT have to trim the lower edges (if they hit your shoulder or collarbone), but that is easy.

There are an awful lot of cut outs. I hope that won't want to crush in in some spots with a good hit. at 14 gauge it's prolly not a problem. but 14 is pretty heavy, my helm is 18.

I got my helm from ashcraft, the 14 gauge is heavy, I don't think you will have to worry about it caving in, my helmet has a lot of cutouts in the front as well, Please for the love of God and your face make sure you pad it well
