I've been working on a chainmaille skirt to attach to my shiny breastplate. I patched up some butted chainmaille and added some rows to the edge to make it wider. Today, my dad and I attached the chainmaille skirt to the breastplate. I think it's coming out pretty cool looking thus far. We haven't really had many problems with the chainmaille or the breastplate, so, hopefully, it'll all work great together in the ring.






Dad was somewhat worried about the split in the back of the chainmaille not lining up dead center, but I'm not all that worried about things being exact as long as it all keeps me protected.

You could consider a strap and buckle closure for the back of the skirt, a la the 14th century Bashford-Dean harness in the Met.

I was moving around a bit and the back of the skirt wasn't going anywhere, so I honestly think it's fine for now. We'll just find out when I put it to use in combat.
