Re: Question about Leather Armor
I have to take a moment to praise the folks at By The Sword, as i was looking at a piece on their website a live customer support guy came on and asked me if I had any questions about anything. they were very helpful, even told me a coupon code for 10% off.

Re: Question about Leather Armor
13 to 15 oz is in the 1/4 thick area which should be pretty good for our fighting style.
IMO you could pretty easily make what they're selling for half the price. Buy some cops off the AA and the hard part is done. If you have more time than money, just buy the stuff. But if you have the time to make it, I'd do that instead. The leather pieces don't look that hard to pattern.

Re: Question about Leather Armor
Your definately right about saving money by making it yourself, not to mention the pride one feels from making your own armor; however time has been a factor in the past and I had been putting some money away for armor. Lately i have had plenty of time as I've been wearing out my recliner, lol. I was just looking for a kidney belt and guantlets at first, but after seeing some of the other pieces i decided to lighten my armor a bit and at the same time finally finishing it out.
the way my ankle broke I have come to the conclusion was a result of me weighting more than my ankle bones are used to. I put on some pounds and then the armor on top of that. So around 235-ish coming down on one ankle when it's used to about 180.
On that note I plan to... well i should post this part else where
