Tasha McGann just released a comprehensive pattern for the Charles De Blois Arming Jacket. This is the same style of arming jacket that Sir Victor and I have, and we would both highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in pointing their armor to a garment or just looking for a nice piece of historical outer-wear.

I have heard from trusted sources that Tasha is one hell of a seamstress and an all around good gal, so I'd consider her a safe vendor. If you have any kind of proficiency with a sewing machine, this $43 pattern will allow you to make many arming jackets that would cost you $200+ retail.

From this post on the AA:

Quote:
Here is what you will get for the price of $35 plus $8 (domestic shipping/handling)/$15 (international shipping/handling):

- A complete pattern on sturdy white paper for chest sizes in two ranges: 37-44, or 46-50.
- Options to make a civilian-style garment or an arming garment.
- Sixty pages of step-by-step instructions for making the garment using a contemporary or historical method – your choice.
- Information on how to pad and quilt the garment.
- 95+ diagrams showing every step of the process.
- Cutting layouts for two sizes of fabric, with and without nap. (Helpful for velvet.)
- Two bonus inserts to teach you how to hand-sew historically-accurate eyelets and buttonholes.
- Fabric and notion recommendations.
- A sturdy white envelope to keep everything in.
- My availability on email to answer your questions: tasha@cottesimple.com
